Paul and I keep mental lists of our favorite lines from the 5-year old class we have been asked to teach every Sunday for our church. They won't be as funny to you as they are to us, I know, because we can hear the hilarious ways they said all of these, and we don't already hear funny things from our own kids on a daily basis.
Here are a few of their remarks:
"This song better be short"
"I'll put it right there on his penis"
"What?!!!"
"I'll put it right there on his butt"
[he was placing a triangle ray on a sun]
"My brother steals. He steals from my grandma."
"I hate the foolish man" [referring to the "the wise man built his house upon a rock" song]
[After telling a story about sharing and taking turns]
"What if your little sister asked you to play on the swing and you yelled 'NO' and punched her in the face...would that be a good example?"
"No. But it would be so funny."
"How long is this going to take? Will it take until I count to infinity? It's always infinity."
"I can see your skin [pointing to my chest]. There are two bumps. What are those?" [I took note of that bra brand and style. Apparently it fooled a 5-year old.]
There have been countless others which didn't make the cut (I forgot them), but if this pose deems successful, more will probably come as our class changes with the new year. Until then bon appetit!

Those are so funny! john and I taught the 5 year olds in two different wards. Those kids constantly had us rolling!
Yes, that's funny!
Please share more! The kids we teach in Nursery are too young to be so clueless about their honesty.
I have one from when I taught the 5 year old class. We were talking about what makes us sad... for some reason, I can't remember. It was quiet for a bit, and then one boy said, "FIRE!" And then another girl yelled, "PEE!"
And all the other kids laughed and were yelling "pee" and "fire" for about 5 minutes. It was so hard to keep a straight face.
Hilarious! Kids crack me up. I, too, would like to hear more of these gems.
HAHA! We used to teach the sunbeams in our old ward, they were so funny too! We miss them from time to time!
Yeah, I used to learn all sorts of stuff about ward members from their children, like who wasn't paying tithing, who was drinking coffee, etc. One girl told me that she liked to ride on her daddy's back and pretend to visit the gas planets in our solar system. This led her to confide to me that her daddy had a lot of gas, too.
Yes! I've been in Primary for years...and kids do say the darnedest things...for example, while holding up a picture of the last supper, I asked, "what's this," in reply "The First Breakfast!"
That is beyond awesome.
Stop the madness! I just went to the Jason Show from your blog (loving him!) and found an old post he did with a picture of Ben and Ruth... and I TOTALLY know Ben. I dated his friend Ryan S. for a minute. So then I noticed your hubby looks just like Ben, and then the last name sealed the dealio. So there. We're a blog match made in heaven. Or PG, or something.
And Royal is who moved into my husband's bachelor house to fill his spot as a roomate when he moved out to marry me. The end :)
That's what keeps me teaching...kids say the funniest things!
