Call me heartless, call me cold, but this has been on my mind:
Am I the only person in America who doesn't like children singing voices?
It could, quite possibly, be a natural thing to think that your own child has a cute voice, but it is a far reach for me to think that the masses can see an unknown child, hear them sing and fall all over it.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:
Sure these kids memorized the words, and the boy suffers from autism which is unimaginable to me...but really folks...is this so-called talent really worth a chance at $1,000,000.000 good? Up against people who have trained for a life time good?
I fear this trend will spread. Next year's America's Got Talent is going to be chock full of these little rugrats and their $$$-eye-ed parents who only hear a loud "cha-ching cha-ching" everytime their kid opens his/her mouth.

like nails to a chalk board. if they cant say their "R"'s yet, then it might be to early to exploit your child.
they are adorable kids...but i see your point...maybe not quite ready for a talent competition.
I think it's kind of cute. But not cute enough to win that kind of money.
I am with you on so many levels. Kids singing, and old people singing not attractive. Me singing even worse than young and old put together. But I also hate how people exploit their children living through them at the same time. talent shows, baby contests, beauty pagents, singing gigs. If the child has a true great desire to do that then fine. but most kids don't, they want to be in the dirt, or playing dress ups. Let kids be kids, and you as a parent won't look so dumb either.
Did you see how those parents were crying?! They weren't in it for the money! They just wanted to see their son become a "different person" when he was singing in front of all those people! Come on, Kira! Try and see where these people are coming from! They wanted a "different kid!"
I don't know about the money thing, but I love anyone who sings about Ben, the rat.
I was totally thinking the same thing Grandma J! And not just any rat...a rat who you can sic on people you don't like and who will get all of his rat clan to kill that person.
And nice call Chlorine Addict...jee wizz...I had never thought of that way.
Hi, came across your blog today! I didn't even watch the videos, because singing kids make me go into convulsions...
Kira,
you don't know me( i am in your parents ward)! I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way! I can't believe they let that boy go to the next round.
p.s. your family is the best!!
Yes, I do believe you have the coldest heart in America!
Note to self...don't post videos of my kids performing.
Got it. ;)
I with you. In fact, I've back-handed my kids more than once for making sounds that resembled singing. Kids gotta learn.
I had a roommate once who was positively repulsed by the sound of children singing. At Christmas, when there were Christmas songs on the radio that had children singing (there are TONS of them) she would shriek and change the station, then launch into a violent explanation of why she hated children singing.
To this day, I still can't listen to music where kids sing on TV or on radio without thinking of her, and promptly changing the channel.
I have to agree. Although cute, not worth a slew of money. P.S., you need to update more often!!
Yeah, I feel the same way about the woman named "Busty" who used her watermelon-sized breasts to crush cans. Poor thing. You could totally tell that she was there only because her money-hungry pimp was forcing her on stage.
I thought I told you to update more often! SHEESH!! We are moving to Orem on Aug. 1st in answer to your question.
